Assistant Director

The Assistant Director is responsible for ensuring that the standards are met and exceeded at all times. In addition, he/she is will help be responsible for the daily operation of the school as well as the preschool classroom.


  • Bachelor’s degree in education or business administration, with at least 60 semester or 90 quarter hours directly related to child care and/or child development
  • At least 2 years of teaching experience
  • Experience in personnel management and curriculum development preferred
  • Knowledge of the DCFS licensing standards
  • Help to oversee the school, ensuring that the standards are met, if not exceeded, at all times, which includes but not limited to: processing of enrollments, management of human, financial and physical resources, keeping records, etc.
  • Supervision of the program, which includes but not limited to: development or reviewing teachers’ lesson plans or choosing curriculum to be implemented center-wide
  • Promotes staff hiring, development and collaboration, including management of the staff schedule
  • Establishes positive and productive relationships with families and community, which includes but not limited to: ensuring that all policies and regulations are understood by the families involved in the center, communicates any behavioral or developmental concerns, injuries or other incidents that occur during the school day
  • Maintains a commitment to professionalism

Teachers

  • A love for educating children and a strong desire to make a difference every day
  • Ability to build relationships with families and coworkers and create a dynamic environment where play and learning happens
  • Outstanding customer service skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and manage multiple situations effectively
  • Approved state trainer (preferred)
  • 1 year Early Childhood Education Experience in a daycare (preferred)
  • CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain
  • Must meet state specific guidelines for the role
  • Must be physically able to use a computer with basic proficiency, lift a minimum of 40 pounds, and work indoors or outdoors
  • Must be able to assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children, see and hear well enough to keep children safe, and engage in physical activity with children

Assistant Teachers

  • At least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year experience working with children birth to five years in home or center setting
